Miami Heat 2014-15 Season Tickets American Airlines Arena Miami FL
The Miami Heat, along with the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic joined the NBA as an expansion team in 1988. In their opening season, the Heat finished at a dismal 15-67. After picking up Glen Rice in the 1989 NBA Draft, the Heat were hopeful, but continued to struggle on their way to an 18-64 record. The team saw some drastic changes during the 1995 offseason when they hired Pat Riley as head coach. The night before the season began, Riley announced that he had traded away stars Glen Rice and Matt Geiger to the Hornets in exchange for Alonzo Mourning. Midseason, Riley also acquired Tim Hardaway and several other players. These changes led to division titles in the following two years, although playoff runs were often cut short.

In the early '90s and 2000s, the Heat struggled. It wasn't until the 2003 NBA draft that things started to change for the better. In the 2003 NBA draft, they selected Dwyane Wade 5th overall. Wade was an instant hit, breaking several rookie records. In 2004, the Heat acquired Shaquille O'Neal. Wade and O'Neal were both averaging over 20 points per game. In the 2005-06 season, Wade and O'Neal would lead the Heat to the team's first-ever NBA finals appearance against Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. After losing the first two games in embarrassing fashion, the Heat turned around and won the following four to defeat the Mavs and earn the Heat's first NBA championship ever.

In 2010, the Heat stunned the basketball world by acquiring LeBron James and Chris Bosh. These two stars playing alongside Dwyane Wade presents one of the league's most intimidating lineups. The "Big Three" led the Heat to a championship in 2012, and are looking to do the same in 2013. Watch out.
