Joining the NBA in 1976, the Pacers are one of the league's younger teams. They experienced little success for much of their beginning years. Questionable management held the team back for more than a decade. However, the arrival of future star Reggie Miller in 1987 marked a turnaround for the team.
Reggie didn't hit full stride for several years, but when he did, he did it in dramatic fashion. In the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Miller became a household name when he scored 25 points in the fourth quarter of game 5 against the Knicks. This led the Pacers to a victory after trailing by 15 at the beginning of the fourth. The Knicks ultimately defeated them in that series, but the Pacers continued to appear in the playoffs, and even made it to the 1999-2000 NBA finals where they lost to the Lakers.
In 2013, the Pacers made an impressive playoff run, led by Paul George and Roy Hibbert. They will look to make another run next year!
